Rock-ola 1934 World Series Baseball
| The second of David Rockola's
trilogy of novel all-mechanical pinball machines (see 1933 Jigsaw
and 1934 Army & Navy). The game of baseball is recreated
complete with strikes, outs, balls and runs. The balls are
used to tally totals, and are advanced around the bases by a
rotating turntable in the center of the playfield. An ingenious mechanism uses energy created by pushing in the ball lift to rotate the turntable. A gear/cam mechanism varies the type of "hit" between single, double, triple and home run. Although not that rare, this game is popular among collectors due to its novel design, sports theme, and historical significance. And it's fun to play! |
